Have you heard the latest trends in cosmetic and beauty for 2016?
Fragrance for 2016
So what are the fragrance trends for this year? All my research points toward more subtle scents,
things that make people slow down, destress and embrace the natural world. The trend continues
to add an oriental touch by using exotic spice notes. Another fragrance that consumers are
seeking is fruit and citrus scents, sweet-fruity smells adding an edible twist to cosmetics and bath/
body products. Combining fruit with floral notes will also be a big hit with 2016 consumers.
Color Trends
Remember the “contouring” fad from 2015? Apparently that is not carrying into this year, the
newest fad is “subtle contouring”, choosing one aspect of your features to highlight like your
cheeks or jawline, making the whole face more natural. The “natural look” appears to be making
a huge comeback with neutral tones that seek to enhance rather than making a bold statement of
their own, such as lip gloss rather than the matte lipstick and earthy eye shadows instead of jewel
tone colors. This carries to the nails as well, lighter more neutral colors (pastels) will be on the
nails and there is a trend away from artificial nails in general. In fact, the only trend that seems
to stray from the natural, subtle look is the use of glitter. Glitter on eyes or nails, even in hair is
trending in 2016.
The biggest news in color for 2016 are hues that are gender neutral, both men’s and women’s
products will carry similar color schemes. Event so, glitter will be everywhere. Glitter on lips,
eyes, hair and even beards will make the scene this year. Sounds like a party to me!
So have fun, be trendy, be bold, summer and fall parties are right around the corner...
